Dr. Alex C. Troxel, DDS, MSD

Endodontist in Steamboat Springs Gentlewave Specialist

Staff

Please give a warm welcome to my staff, Sadie and Barb, on your visit to our office. These two individuals show up every day and work tirelessly. They do this in order to offer you the very best service and treatment we can possibly provide. I am grateful to them for their dedication, their attention to detail, and the generous care they show in their work. Please show them that same gratitude.

Background

Dr. Troxel was raised in northeastern Indiana by a farmer and a tap dance teacher. Although his education and interests have taken him far from home, he does his best to retain the midwestern decency and humility with which he grew up. Endodontics has been a rewarding career that compels honesty and trust between patient and provider—these relationships are what motivate Dr. Troxel daily. Dr. Troxel is married to his beautiful wife Joy. Outside of the office, Dr. Troxel enjoys paddling, telemark and nordic skiing, camping, cooking, fly-fishing, playing keyed instruments, and spoiling his dog Olive.

Education

Dr. Troxel completed his undergraduate studies at DePauw University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. There, he was captain of the varsity swim team his Junior and Senior years. He continued his dental education at Indiana University School of Dentistry and was awarded his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree as class valedictorian. Following dental school, Dr. Troxel completed a dental General Practice Residency at the local Veterans Affairs hospital, which focused on comprehensive care, surgery, and anesthesia. He finished his education at Indiana University Graduate Endodontics, where he earned his Master’s of Science in Dentistry as well as his Certificate in Endodontics.

Research

During his graduate studies, Dr. Troxel completed his master's research on the most cutting edge field of endodontics—Regenerative Endodontics. This field focuses on regenerating your native dental tissues via stem cells found in immature teeth. Dr. Troxel's thesis on this subject, The antibacterical effect of new intracanal medicaments against established multispecies biofilm, was published in the American Association of Endodontists' journal—the Journal of Endodontics.
